|
All summer rides leave from Chandler-Newberger Community Center unless noted as a remote start. The street address is 1028 Central St., although the building itself is nearer to Lincoln St. There is ample street parking available on Lincoln St. in Evanston on weekends. On weekdays, request a parking lot permit from the Chandler desk. Please arrive by the scheduled time of the ride. This allows time for everyone to sign-up, riders to be introduced, and the leader to be sure everyone is prepared for the ride. The goal is for rides to roll out on the road 10 minutes after the scheduled time. Rides will not take place place if there is snow/ice on the surface of the road, or if it's raining/snowing. You may ride with EBC a few times before joining. Just
show up with a helmet and a bike in good mechanical condition, carry water
and a spare inner tube, and be on time so the ride can start
promptly. You are expected to ride safely and courteously as
outlined in EBC's guide
to safe group riding and to follow the rules of the road. Ride
leaders reserve the right at their sole discretion to ask any rider who does
not wear a helmet or who treats others disrespectfully to leave the club
sponsored ride. All EBC rides must have a
sign-up sheet and
all participating riders must sign in.

Has your bike riding been limited to riding on the bike path? Are your cycling skills a little rusty after the winter? Whether you are a novice bike rider or a hard-core commuter this educational presentation and ride will sharpen your bicycle skills. This will be a mini bicycle drivers education for you and your bike. No matter how well you think you can ride a bike there are basic skills you can practice that will help you be safer and more confident on the street, road, or path. Sharon, a League Cycling Instructor, will demonstrate proper bike handling techniques, road safety, and best group riding practices. Participants will then have a chance to practice these skills with a casual ride. This is a great way to get ready for all of the riding you'll be doing this summer! |
