He sags rides in his area and shows off his shop. Very nice.  Will talk your ear off.

I ran across this pretty neat webpage on Schwinn in Chicago, after reading this thread.  https://chicagology.com/cycling/schwinn/

I was curious where Schwinn's were manufactured in Chicago, and that webpage has that information and alot more.

I still have my Schwinn yellow Varsity bought when I was a teen.  Nothing like riding on a frame made from natural gas pipe.😊

I wish them luck. You still see some Collegiates and Varsities among bikes at Metra stations (well, last summer you did).

According to this 1955 Schwinn catalog https://bikehistory.org/catalogs/1965.html A Schwinn Collegiate 5 speed was $56.95, which is $465 in today’s dollars.   So these new ones at $998 are pricier.  Of course, the only reason to put them in Walmart is that is where Schwinn has distribution; it’s become a discount store brand.

This is great and awful at the same time! Great that Schwinn is back in the US. But Detroit instead of Chicago, outrageous!!!
