CDC new guidelines and the EBC
Author Last Post
To our membership:

It is very exciting news that the CDC has eased its mask guidelines. What does that mean for the EBC?

State and local governments within our footprint will probably follow the CDC but have not yet done so. That said, Illinois is in a transition phase beginning today.

CDC maskless guidelines are for fully vaccinated individuals. That means you have had two shots of Moderna or Pfizer, or one dose of J&J, and at least two weeks have passed since the final dose. We are not demanding proof of vaccination to ride with the EBC and trust our members to be honorable, caring citizens.

Our policy has been, and will continue, that ride leaders set the rules for mask wearing whether on or off the bike. I am assuming most restaurants and businesses will request wearing masks indoors as they will be unable to verify who is vaccinated and who is not.

Please do not give our ride leaders a hard time if they request mask wearing while off and/or on your bike. If you are opposed to their direction, you have the choice not to ride with the group. MOST important, if a ride leader makes wearing a mask optional, do what you feel most comfortable with. You need to be comfortable with your own health practice decisions.

Many have been asking when will we return to in-person meetings at the Evanston Ecology Center. Please attend our Tuesday, May 18, 7PM Zoom General Meeting as this will be on the agenda. In addition, Earl Strassberger will be leading a great program on stretching and exercising. Our Program Chair, Randy Pickard, will be sending in a separate email Zoom sign-in as well as more information on Tuesday’s program.

Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to turn the corner on the pandemic. As always, our members health and safety is a top priority.

Pedal on!

Alvin Spector
