Tuesday Moderate Ride – September 27th – 9:00 AM – Panera
This week we will take a relatively direct route to Northcroft Park and after a rest stop explore the 12-mile loop that forms the scenic core of the NSC Metric Century. We’ve done this on the fly for years, usually the Tuesday after the NSC. Since we are a week later than usual and some of the markings may have faded, I have produced a RWGPS route for the entire ride. You can find it at: Bike Route Planner - Ride with GPS, This one is not in the Route Library. Our total distance will be about 43 miles. My pace will be a moderate 13 – 15 mph. With enough interest there will be a second group led by Will traveling at a slightly faster pace. In addition to the 12-mile loop, another scenic plus for this route – we ride through the Skokie Lagoon on Forestway twice in the same ride.
Another change this year: Lunch! Since the Panera in Bannockburn is kaput, we will lunch at Eggspresso Bannockburn in the same shopping center. I have eaten there many times, usually after cross country skiing at Heller Nature Center. I have never tried using it on a bike ride. I think it should make a good EBC lunch stop. Looks like we have a fine Fall Day in store for us this week – partly cloudy with a high temperature of 59 degrees. The wind should be from the NW at 10 to 20 mph. If the weather should be vastly different that predicted making it necessary to cancel the ride, I will post an announcement to the listserv by 8:00 AM.
