Tuesday Moderate Ride – October 31st – 9:00 AM – Panera
I recently learned about a Lake Forest mystery and ghost story, which will provide the theme for this week’s ride. We’ll visit the scene of the murder (or was it a suicide), the site of reported ghost sightings, and a few other locations including the grave of the victim/ghost. Given my extreme skepticism and the daylight hour, no ghost sightings are expected. Consequently after lunch at Caputo’s in Lake Forest we’ll make a stop to see the ghosts, ghouls, and other monsters on display at Ravinia Glen Place (just north of Lake Cook Road on the west side of Green Bay Road).
Our total distance will be about 36 miles. My pace will be a moderate 13 – 15 mph. With enough interest and a willing leader, we’ll have a second group traveling at around 16 mph for portions of this ride. Here is link to our route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26403049.
At this point the weather forecast is relatively good for Tuesday - partly to mostly cloudy with a high temperature of 43 degrees. The winds will be from the west at 10 to 20 mph. There is no possibility of rain in the forecast. If the actual weather should be vastly different than predicted making it necessary to cancel the ride, I will post an announcement to the listserv before 8:00 AM.
