There's a 4-mile long section starting at Harbor in Glencoe and running to Lake in Wilmette, that is fully paved, in some places newly paved, wider than the Forest preserve and Skokie trails we ride on, and just as empty.
If you take the Green Bay trail you can get through south Glencoe, all of Winnetka, and Kennilworth without any traffic lights and just a few easy stop signs.
It's way FASTER and way SAFER and just more pleasant than riding in traffic through the multiple Winnetka business districts, dealing with traffic lights, watching out so that you don't get doored.
If you try it and really don't like it, then Green Bay is just a few feet away, so there's no reason not to at least try it. Pick it up at Harbor in Glencoe, and give it a try to Lake in Wilmette.
