Easter Brunch Ride-0930-Lake Forest College Sunday...
Author Last Post
[There were three names on the ride sheet for this ride last year, April 1st, an April Fool on us, with the high temperature at 25F. One of those three would not have made the trip if he had not previously volunteered to be ride leader]

A much improved weather forecast for this Easter-partly sunny, high of 68F, SSE winds at 8mph (good for the trip up, not good for the trip home) with gusts to 13mph. If there are drastic weather changes between now and then, I'll post by 8am Sunday.

Join me again this year for this 40 (or so) mile nonsectarian "classic fast" ride (roughly 15-17mph under idea conditions)which as far as I can tell, is the only EBC event scheduled not on any civil or solar calendar, but on the  lunisolar calendar.  If you've ever wondered why that is, see the links below, which contain tables through 2024, and for you compulsive planners, even a program for calculating the date(s) past 2024, so you can flag this ride on your ride calendar well past your hundredth birthday.

Easter Dating Method - Calculate the Date of Easter Sunday   (any date from 326 to 4099 AD)    This no-cost extra feature-available only to paid-up EBC members with full access decoder rings- allows you to calculate when you could be wasting another perfectly good day with your EBC friends, much farther into the future than any other currently anticipated or posted EBC ride.

Certain sources link Easter to Eostre, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring and fertility, which might explain the eggs and bunnies.

[April 21st for the Easter date, last fell on this date in 1957; and is next scheduled for 2030 if you miss the fun this Sunday. If you really want to drive yourself crazy (or are a compulsive numbers person), check this link:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computus  for more amusing and totally useless information.
["Accordingly, Gregorian Easter can fall on 35 possible dates—between March 21 and April 25 inclusive.  The cycle of Easter dates repeats after exactly 5,700,000 years, with April 19 being the most common date]

Note the remote start location at Panera in Wilmette at 0930Since you've had extra time to sleep in, let's plan to leave as close to 0930 as practical.  We plan to arrive at LFC (Hart Dining Hall at the Mohr Student Center, just east of Sheridan Road and south of College Avenue on the LFC middle campus) by 11:30am or so.  Eat lightly before the ride, because after the huge brunch, you may not need to eat for the next day or so. Inflate your tires an extra 5-10 pounds.

image.pngHow much this year? Big increase: $16 this year (cash or credit card) (up from $10.31 in 2017 and $11.35 in 2018) The campus food service provider has changed since last year, but they promise it will be better than ever. Those LFC kids eat well.
