Join us next Thursday, July 18, at 9:00AM for 30 miles on the north section of the Des Plaines river trail (DPRT). The DPRT has a crushed limestone surface suitable for bikes with wider-tires. We will begin the ride on the DPRT immediately North of the Buckley Road (137) underpass in Libertyville, adjacent to Independence Grove FP. We will ride north to Rosecrans Road (173) take a snack/drink break (convenience store and Dunkin) and then retrace our path to Buckley Road. We will enjoy lunch at Wildberry Café at the end of the ride so those with afternoon plans can skip lunch and hop back in their cars.
Parking options include:
- Alder Park, 1500 N Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville
- Shopping center on the SE corner of Milwaukee (21) and Buckley (137), behind the Starbucks, 159 Buckley Rd, Libertyville
- Wildberry Café lot on the SW corner of Milwaukee (21) and Buckley (137), 1783 N Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville.
- Independence Grove FP, Lot K. After parking, ride West across bridge on DPRT to the meetup point. Please note that Independence Grove charges non-Lake County residents a $5 parking entry fee.
Riders will meet on the DPRT on the north side of Buckley 300 yards east of Milwaukee. From Milwaukee Ave, ride through Alder Park to the trail or ride down the sidewalk on the North side of Buckley Road to the start.
