Tuesday Moderate Ride – June 11^th – 9:00 AM – Panera

This week we are scheduled to ride to one of my favorite places – The Middlefork Savanna. A savanna is an open woodland with grasses and forbs growing under the trees. Our route utilizes a recently completed bridge that allows us to enter the preserve from the Lake Forest Academy grounds. You can find the route at: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/27865884.

We’ll ride about four miles on the limestone trails in the preserve at a slow pace with the possibility of some stops for nature gawking. Otherwise my pace will be a moderate 13 – 15 mph. With enough interest and a willing leader we will have a second group traveling at a slightly faster pace. Lunch will be at Panera in Lake Bluff.

At the moment the weather forecast for Tuesday is promising – partly cloudy with a high temperature of 76 degrees and winds from the SSW at 7 mph. There is only a 20% chance of rain. If the weather should prove to be vastly different from what is predicted making it necessary to cancel the ride, I will post a notification to the listserv before 8 AM.
