This is a wonderful opportunity for all the Chicago history enthusiasts. A free tour of Rosehill!!! Unfortunately it is scheduled when I am out of town and I am jealous of all of you that can go. Enjoy.

Founded in 1859 Rosehill is Chicago's oldest and largest non-sectarian cemetery. This free 2 hour walking tour conducted by cemetery staff will highlight cemetery art, architecture, symbolism and pioneers of Chicago commerce and politics. If you're not able to ride with us then please consider meeting us at the Rosehill main entrance at 5800 N Ravenswood Ave a little before 10 AM.   Please wear a good pair of walking shoes and bring a strong lock and cable as there are no bike racks available.       Roundtrip 17-18 miles.   Pace  (city ride) around 11-12 MPH.   If you stay for lunch expect to be back by around 3PM.  Lunch will be at the nearby Fireside Grill Restaurant 5739 North Ravenswood

Fireside Restaurant & Lounge

The roadhouse now known as the Fireside Restaurant & Lounge has stood across from historic Rosehill Cemetery for more than a century. It is one of the oldest continuously operating taverns in Chicago. The original tavern once served traveling farmers and mourners alike, even offering accommodations.
