Learn how some of the recipients of this year's EBC grants program are using the funds raised at the 2017 North Shore Century on bike-related projects and activities to make a difference in their communities. Grantees participating include:
1) Rebecca Centioli from the Chicago Jesuit Academy - Purchased a new fleet of bikes for Bike Club, a co-curricular activity for young men from the Austin neighborhood, to learn the components of a bike, basic maintenance, safety skills, and rules of the road
2) Jill Skwerski from the Evanston Public Library Book Bike - Added a second Book Bike to expand services to additional Evanston parks and community events
3) Dave Pohlad women's bike club coordinator at Bikes N Roses - Launched a cycling advocacy and educational campaign that caters to women, people of color, and refugees in the Albany Park neighborhood. The campaign is led by youth who are participants in the Girl's Bike Club and includes free classes at the BIke N Roses shop that cover basic bike maintenance and safe cycling.
