Given that this is the 100th anniversary of the signing of The Armistice, and that the Elks Memorial was initially conceived and built to honor their members who had served in WWI I thought it appropriate to visit for a Noon tour. This is a stunning, magnificent Beaux Arts-style domed building at Diversey and the lakefront.
We'll take the Lake Front trail to the Chicago History Museum and have breakfast in their cafe from10:15-11:15 ish. (there is no entrance fee for the cafe) then double back north for the tour at noon. Please bring a good city lock. If you can't make the ride then please join us either at the museum's Cafe or for the tour.. My cell # 773-848-3008. Texting is preferred.
The weather will be chilly and then warming up to sunny 37. Wind is favorable for a ride with 8 mph SW (tail wind on return).
RT distance 28 miles. I expect to be back between 2:15-2:30
FYI: Chandler has changed their hours and officially opens at 8:30 AM, The new starting time for the Wed ride for the winter will be at 8:40 which means that we'll be on the road by 8:50 (remembering the 10 min grace period)
