Leaving from Panera Wilmette at 8:30.
Albert Lasker was an American businessman who played a major role in shaping modern advertising. He devised and led many successful ad campaigns promoting e.g. Palmolive, Pepsodent, Puffed wheat, Kotex, Kleenex, Van Kamp and Luck Strike (cigarettes) just to name a few . He made new use of radio and as such, changed popular culture and appealed to consumers' psychology. He demonstrated that advertising was "salesmanship in print."
Despite his incredible wealth he was unable to obtain membership in the many north shore exclusive golf clubs so he created his own world class course and facility - the remnants and conversions of which we'll cycle by today.
RT around 38-40 miles. Lunch at the Panera in Bannockburn; probably back around 2 pm.
